Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Friends,

We are at the end of term 1. We are all experiencing interesting and also tough times. Unfortunately, the novel virus COVID-19 has shaken the world unexpectedly. Australia has been affected as well. Every person, every company, every school and also the government was pushed aside from their usual routines. Risk reducing precautions are the first priority in every aspect of our lives.

Last couple weeks, we have taken some necessary steps to teach and encourage our students about personal hygiene exercises. Every classroom was provided hand sanitisers. Our students were expected to wash their hands frequently. Nowadays social distancing, or self-isolation is recommended by the authorities as the best way to keep the virus away. For this reason, we had to decide to start our term break one week earlier. As of the last week of the term, The State of Victoria has declared “State of Emergency” and closed all schools on the 24th March.

As a school principal, I would have wanted to discuss about education, curricular and co-curricular activities that had happened in the first term. However, our agenda is completely different. As Sirius College, we held workshops on online/distance education in the last week. We are trying to get ready for a prolonged school closure. Our aim is to keep in contact with our students and provide them the best possible resources and online education. During the holidays, we will communicate with our families about what will be done according to the federal or state official statements. This nightmare will end soon, and we hope to see our students at school again.

Until we will start operating at our campus again, please obey social distancing rules. Stay at home unless it’s an emergency. Health is more important than anything else, please do not take risk for yourselves and your children.

Have a safe and healthy holiday. See you all soon.
